Nemunas Island
General information about land plot
Description/condition of the land plot. The total area of the Nemunas Island is approximately 30 ha. The island is situated at the city centre of the city, on the right side of river Nemunas. There are two land plots structured in this island with addresses Karaliaus Mindaugo Ave. 50 and Karaliaus Mindaugo Ave. 50A (the latter is presented hereinafter). Both land plots are owned by Kaunas City Municipality. Nemunas Island is a potential recreational territory in Kaunas city since it is situated at the centre of the city, near residential districts of Zaliakalnis, Naujamiestis, and Freda. Furthermore, residential district of Zemoji Freda is planned to become a continuation of city centre with trade, residential and recreation areas. Moreover, the shopping and entertainment centre “Akropolis” is located nearby and hotel “Respublika” is also being built next to the Nemunas Island. Furhermore, S.Daukanto Pedestrian Street connects city centre to the island (there are two pedestrian bridges to the island and one is designed). Three different zones are being planned on the Nemunas Island: Eastern part of the island – for sports events, central part – for active entertainments, and Western part – for quiet rest.
