  • Total area: 21,1 hectares.
  • The purpose of the land plot: the territory is intended for building, installation and exploitation of sports complexes.
  • Information gathered: on December, 2007.

Description/condition of the land plot. The land plot belongs to Raseiniai District Municipality. The Raseiniai Hippodrome was built for organizing horse racings, but hasn’t been used for 15 years till 2007, when 8-day races were held. Approximately eight thousand people visited these races. Buildings are in bad condition (the renovation has not been made for 15 years), but there is a possibility to get the financial support from Structural funds of European Union (according to the Feasibility study of the Development of the Hippodromes in Lithuania). There is a racecourse (1000 m), spectators’ tribune, referee‘s house, and a toilet in the territory. Since the existing racecourse is too short for organizing international horse races, it is planned to extend the racecourse up to 1600 meters (in order to 1800-2000 meters long racecourse, more land plots must be purchased). Also, renovation of the downhill must be executed, the fencing of the territory must be repaired and lighting of the racecourse installed, the existing stands and utility stables must be reconstructed and new additional stands, stables and yard for inspection of horses must be built. Moreover, access roads and parking-lots must be built. The total amount of investments required – 3,5-5 million Litas (depending on the extent of works):

  • Renovation of the downhill, mounting of the racecourse (1600 meters), lighting and fencing of the racecourse – approximately 1,5-2,5 million Litas;
  • Installation of the spectators’ tribune and additional facilities – approximately 1-1,5 million Litas;
  • Construction of utility stables and yard for inspection of horses – approximately 1 million Litas.  

The exact estimate of the investments will be calculated after preparation of the technical project.

Suitability for tourism and environmental requirements. The land plot is suitable for tourism, i.e. for development of horse sport. Environmental requirements will be established during the detailed planning of the land plot.

  • Motorway Vilnius-Kaunas-Klaipeda – 8 km;
  • Vidukles Railway Station – 12 km;
  • Kaunas International Airport – 120 km;
  • Klaipeda State Seaport – 130 km.

Infrastructure of the land plot:

  • Water supplies, capacity/connection conditions. There is possibility to connect to the nearby water-supply system.
  • Electricity, capacity/connection conditions: there is a possibility to connect to electric lines that are in the land plot.
  • Possibilities to use public transport: intercity buses run by the land plot.

Additional information. The land plot borders with Zemaiciu road leading from Raseiniai Town to Kryzkalnis and Kaunas City.
